Caulders was started in April 1999 by Colin Barrie with the opening of Mugdock Plantaria in Milngavie, since then it has grown hugely and we are now regarded as having some of the best garden centres in Scotland. In fact the Garden Centre Association has voted us Scotland’s best garden centre for 2008/2009 and 2009/2010

BRIEF OUTLINE OF BUSINESS HISTORY

April 1999

- Opened a small garden centre at Mugdock Country Park employing only 2 part-time staff.


Feb 2001

– Expanded the garden centre at Mugdock adding on a gift shop


March 2002

– Opened Caulders Garden Centre in Kirkintilloch


January 2003

– Built and opened a 100 seater coffee shop at Caulders Garden Centre


October 2004

– Opened Caulders Outdoor Living – now Scotland’s foremost importer of log cabins and summer houses


June 2005

– Added on a 100 seater restaurant to Caulders Mugdock


April 2009

* Opened a new, purpose built garden centre in Newton Mearns, together with a 140 seated restaurant
