Once a year, Colin heads over to Tuscany, Italy, to do what he does best – hand pick exceptional plants for our centres.
This latest trip had a very clear focus… large specimen plants.

Tuscany offers the perfect growing conditions, with long sunny days and a warm climate that allows plants to mature beautifully. In fact, plants that could take up to 20 years to grow here in Scotland can reach the same size and quality in as little as 7 years there – making them truly something special.
By sourcing directly from trusted growers, Colin is able to carefully select mature, well-shaped plants that will make an instant impact in your garden. These are statement pieces – the kind that bring structure, character, and that established feel straight away.
As always, we remain incredibly proud to support local Scottish growers and continue to prioritise sourcing as much of our range as possible from within Scotland. This annual trip is very much a one-off opportunity, allowing us to carefully select larger, more mature specimen plants that simply aren’t possible to grow to the same scale or within the same timeframe in our climate.
It’s all about bringing you the very best of both – locally grown plants for everyday gardening, alongside a small selection of exceptional specimens to help create something truly special in your garden.
And don’t worry – while this may have been a work trip, Colin did manage to enjoy a glass or two of Tuscany’s finest along the way! 🍷
